HM Treasury Consults on Cash and Digital Payments in the New Economy
03/13/2018HM Treasury has published a call for evidence which aims to inform the government's understanding of cash and digital payments in the new economy. Statistics show that the advance of digital technology has impacted how people manage their finances, with a large increase in the use of digital payments and a decrease in the use of cash. The UK Government is seeking input on how it can support the transition from cash to digital payments. The Government would like to ensure that cash remains available and secure to those who need to use it. In addition, the Government is concerned with how it can do more to prevent cash being used illegitimately, mostly to evade tax and to launder money.
Responses to the consultation should be provided by June 5, 2018.
