UK Conduct Regulator Publishes Statement on Operating MiFID II Transparency Regime Post-Brexit
03/14/2019The U.K. Financial Conduct Authority has published a Supervisory Statement on the operation of the transparency regime under the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive post-Brexit. The Statement sets out how the FCA will operate the pre- and post-trade transparency regime for the secondary markets in the event of a no-deal Brexit on March 29, 2019. The U.K.'s onshored MiFID II provides the FCA with transitional powers, for a period of four years, on how to run the transparency regime as the FCA does not yet have the technology to make the same calculations and assessments that ESMA carries out.
