European Commission Acknowledges Postponement of COP26
04/02/2020The European Commission has acknowledged the U.K. Presidency's decision to postpone the UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (commonly known as COP26) in order to focus efforts on containing COVID-19. The Commission's work to produce a plan to raise the EU's 2030 climate-change ambitions and cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50-55% compared to 1990 levels is on track to be presented by September 2020.
The U.K., in partnership with Italy, will host COP26, which is scheduled to take place from November 9-20, 2021. The COP26 Private Finance Agenda endeavors to ensure that every professional financial decision takes climate change into account.
