05/22/2020The Bank of England has announced that it will discontinue its three-month Contingent Term Repo Facility at the end of May 2020, with the final operation scheduled to take place on May 28, 2020. The BoE’s one-month CTRF operations will continue on a weekly basis until at least June 26, 2020. The BoE has also said that it will reintroduce the operations if necessary.
The CTRF was established by the BoE in March 2020, at the outset of the COVID-19 outbreak, allowing financial market participants to borrow central bank reserves in exchange for less liquid assets.
